The ASEAN Auditor Conference 2025 was held from 27 to 28 May 2025 at Perdana Hall, Putrajaya International Convention Centre, Malaysia. Organized in conjunction with Malaysia’s ASEAN Chairmanship 2025, the event marked a significant milestone in fostering collaboration among auditors across the ASEAN region. The opening ceremony was officiated by H.E. Tan Sri Shamsul Azri bin Abu Bakar, Chief Secretary to the Government of Malaysia, and featured a keynote address by H.E. Dato’ Seri Wan Suraya Wan Mohd Radzi, Auditor General of Malaysia.

With the theme “Inclusive and Sustainable Auditing for a Progressive ASEAN,” the conference served as a strategic platform to strengthen public sector auditing through dialogue, partnerships, and knowledge sharing. The event brought together over 2,000 participants from Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs), government agencies, international organizations, and the private sector—promoting diverse perspectives on good governance, transparency, and accountability.

As Chair of the ASEANSAI Knowledge Sharing Committee (KSC), SAI Malaysia hosted the KSC Project 2025: High-Level Dialogue Session on Contemporary Issues and Challenges in Public Sector Auditing. Distinguished speakers included H.E. Dato’ Seri Wan Suraya Wan Mohd Radzi, Auditor General of Malaysia; H.E. Gamaliel A. Cordoba, Auditor General of the Philippines; and Mr. Pranoto, Director General of Audit VII of Indonesia. The session explored advancing audit practices, digital transformation, sustainability reporting, and institutional collaboration to build a more progressive and transparent ASEAN audit community.

Discussions covered key topics such as follow-up audits to enhance the effectiveness of audit recommendations, digital auditing for public sector modernization, sustainability and ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) reporting, and the development of future audit talent.

At the conclusion of the conference, participants reaffirmed their commitment to continued active engagement within the ASEANSAI cooperation framework, underscoring ASEAN’s shared vision to strengthen inclusive, adaptive, and transparent auditing practices in support of good governance and the ASEAN Community Vision 2045.

The closing ceremony was graced by the presence of H.E. Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Prime Minister of Malaysia. The event began with remarks from H.E. Dato’ Seri Wan Suraya Wan Mohd Radzi, Auditor General of Malaysia, followed by a keynote closing address by the Prime Minister, who reaffirmed Malaysia’s commitment to promoting good governance and transparency across the ASEAN region through modern and sustainable audit systems.
