The ASEANSAI Strategic Planning Committee (SPC) convened a virtual meeting in June 2025 to deliberate and finalise the third draft of the ASEANSAI Strategic Plan 2026–2029. This meeting represented a notable milestone and the concluding step in the preparatory process prior to the draft’s discussion at the forthcoming ASEANSAI Senior Officials’ Meeting (SOM) in July.
The formulation of the Strategic Plan reflects ASEANSAI’s commitment to establishing a clear direction and framework for achieving its 2029 vision — to become an organisation trusted by its member SAIs and external stakeholders, including national governments, development partners, and other INTOSAI regional organisations. Through this plan, ASEANSAI aims to be more proactive, flexible, and resilient in adapting to the evolving global context, while continuing to contribute to the enhancement of good governance and sustainable development in the region.
The virtual meeting convened all members of the Strategic Planning Committee, which includes representatives from the Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs) of ASEAN member states. The session was presided over by SAI Vietnam, serving both as the Chair of the SPC and as the host of the meeting. In a constructive and participatory environment, each delegation articulated its insights and perspectives regarding the draft, previously circulated for review, thereby ensuring that the Strategic Plan accurately reflects the collective aspirations and actual needs of ASEANSAI member SAIs.
The outcome of the meeting was a consolidated strategic document centred on four key strategic objectives: strengthening collaborative capacity development, enhancing the quality of knowledge sharing, expanding regional and international cooperation, and reinforcing ASEANSAI’s internal governance. With this renewed Strategic Plan, ASEANSAI is expected to strengthen its role as a regional platform that is adaptive, professional, and innovative in promoting accountability, transparency, and sustainable development across the ASEAN region.
