The ASEANSAI Strategic Planning Committee (SPC) convened a virtual meeting on 15 May 2025 to deliberate and refine on the second draft of the ASEANSAI Strategic Plan 2026–2029. Hosted by the State Audit Office of Vietnam as Chair of the SPC, the meeting represented a key step toward developing a comprehensive and collaborative framework to strengthen public sector auditing across the ASEAN region.
The discussion centred on enhancing the strategic document and its associated Implementation Matrix. The meeting also provided a significant platform for the exchange of perspectives among ASEANSAI Committees, the ASEANSAI Secretariat, SPC members, and experts from the Swedish National Audit Office (SNAO), who have persistently supported the process through technical collaboration and advisory input.
During the session, ASEANSAI members shared updates and perspectives on the development of the second draft, focusing on refining the structure, clarity, and coherence of the Strategic Plan 2026–2029. Discussions focused on enhancing the alignment between strategic objectives, measurable outcomes, and implementation approaches to ensure that the plan effectively supports the organisation’s vision and mission. The exchange of insights among SPC members reflected ASEANSAI’s collaborative spirit in shaping a plan that is inclusive, forward-looking, and responsive to its members’ diverse capacities.
The meeting also benefited from the continued collaboration with the Swedish National Audit Office (SNAO), which provided constructive recommendations to enhance the plan’s flexibility, monitoring framework, and emphasis on institutional independence. The valuable input from SNAO and other SPC members underscored the importance of adaptive planning and tracking measurable progress. The discussion concluded with a shared commitment to finalise the third draft for further review and endorsement, marking another step toward strengthening ASEANSAI’s role in promoting accountability, transparency, and sustainable governance across the region.
