As part of the implementation of the cooperation between ASEANSAI and the Swedish National Audit Office (Swedish NAO), ASEANSAI is undertaking a series of activities to strengthen the support function of its Secretariat and build institutional capacity. These initiatives include in-person workshops in Jakarta and Stockholm to enhance governance, improve organizational effectiveness, and foster stronger collaboration with development partners.

The first training was held on 22–25 April 2025 at the Swedish NAO headquarters in Stockholm under the theme “Training for ASEANSAI Secretariat to Strengthen Its Secretariat Function.” The program focused on strengthening internal governance, communication, and coordination strategies, as well as sharing best practices in managing an international secretariat. Participants also gained insights from Swedish NAO’s role in INTOSAI’s Capacity Building Committee (CBC), which provided useful benchmarks for ASEANSAI’s institutional development.

The training resulted in several follow-up actions, including the development of a concept to expand the ASEANSAI website, regular coordination meetings with ASEANSAI Committee Chairs, and preparations for engagement with potential development partners. A follow-up meeting with Swedish NAO is also planned for September 2025 in Indonesia.
