ASEANSAI was invited to participate in the ASEAN Cybersecurity Training Level 1 for IT Professionals, held on 19–22 May 2025 at the ASEAN Secretariat in Jakarta. The program was organized by ASEAN in collaboration with USAID and the U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), as part of the ASEAN–USAID Partnership Program, with support from the ASEAN Secretariat’s Information Technology and Systems Division (ITSD) and Human Resources Division (HRD).
As an ASEAN-associated entity, ASEANSAI joined other ASEAN bodies in a four-day training designed to strengthen the capacity of IT professionals to manage cyber risks, protect organizational data, and respond effectively to incidents. The program combined interactive modules, case studies, and practical exercises aligned with international standards such as ISO 27001 and the NIST Cybersecurity Framework.
The program highlighted how adherence to international standards and best practices can improve the resilience of ASEAN institutions against cyber threats. Instructors, including cybersecurity experts Valentine Joseph Gandhi and Akhmad Bakhri, provided real-world insights to help participants translate concepts into practice.
The training concluded with a Debriefing Session with ASEAN Secretariat Leadership on 23 May 2025. The session presented pre- and post-training assessments, participant feedback, and recommendations. It also outlined plans for a follow-up Level 2 Training to raise cybersecurity awareness among end users.
