ASEANSAI organized the Young Leaders\u2019 Programme (YLP) 2025 as part of the 8th<\/sup> ASEANSAI Summit in Singapore, bringing together young auditors from Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs) across the ASEAN region. Hosted by the Auditor-General\u2019s Office of Singapore, the programme aimed to strengthen leadership capacity among emerging auditors and foster collaboration and knowledge exchange among the next generation of public-sector audit professionals.<\/span><\/p>\n

Held under the theme \u201cBuilding for the Future,\u201d the programme focused on preparing young auditors to address evolving challenges in public sector auditing, including digital transformation, innov1ation in audit methodologies, and the growing use of data and technology in audit processes.<\/span><\/p>\n

Participants from several ASEANSAI member SAIs\u2014including Singapore, Indonesia, Brunei Darussalam, Malaysia, Viet Nam, Cambodia, Lao PDR, and Thailand\u2014took part in the programme, which provided a platform for exchanging experiences and strengthening professional networks among young auditors in the region.<\/span><\/p>\n

A key component of the programme was a series of presentations and discussions on innovative audit practices from different SAIs. These sessions highlighted the growing role of digital technologies in enhancing audit effectiveness, including the use of data analytics, automation tools, and artificial intelligence to support risk analysis and improve audit processes.<\/span><\/p>\n

Participants also learned about practical innovations implemented by various SAIs. These included digital tools for detecting document manipulation, robotic process automation for financial audit processes, and machine learning models for identifying anomalies in financial transactions. Other presentations highlighted strategic initiatives, including the development of digital auditing systems, centralized audit databases, auditor competency frameworks, and technology-enabled self-assessment systems to strengthen governance oversight.<\/span><\/p>\n

In addition to the technical sessions, participants visited the Singapore Parliament House, where they gained insights into the structure and functions of the legislature, the law-making process, and the relationship between the legislative and executive branches. The visit also highlighted how SAIs’ audit reports can support parliamentary oversight and inform decision-making processes. <\/span><\/p>\n

The programme concluded with a social networking activity designed to strengthen professional connections among participants. The informal setting allowed young auditors to exchange views on audit practices, institutional challenges, and opportunities for future collaboration among ASEANSAI member SAIs.<\/span><\/p>\n

Through the Young Leaders\u2019 Programme, ASEANSAI continues to invest in developing future leaders in public-sector auditing while reinforcing cooperation and knowledge sharing among SAIs in the ASEAN region.<\/span><\/p>\n
