The 58th<\/sup> ASEAN Day was commemorated on 8 August 2025 at the ASEAN Secretariat in Jakarta, bringing together representatives of ASEAN member states, regional institutions, and partners to celebrate ASEAN\u2019s shared identity and future.<\/p>\n

The celebration opened with the ASEAN Anthem, creating a moment of unity among participants. This was followed by traditional dance performances from Malaysia, highlighting Southeast Asia’s cultural diversity and creating a festive atmosphere for the event.<\/p>\n

In his opening remarks, ASEAN Secretary-General Dr Kao Kim Hourn marked the occasion as an important milestone following the adoption of ASEAN 2045: Our Shared Future. He expressed optimism about ASEAN\u2019s direction and reaffirmed that inclusivity and sustainability would remain at the heart of regional integration as ASEAN adapts to global challenges.<\/p>\n

The program continued with a keynote address by the Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, Sugiono, whose attendance reflected Indonesia\u2019s continued commitment to ASEAN cooperation and regional leadership.<\/p>\n

A symbolic cake-cutting ceremony was held by the ASEAN Secretary-General, together with the Indonesian Foreign Minister. It was attended by members of the Committee of Permanent Representatives to ASEAN. The event also featured a prerecorded message from Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, who emphasized the relevance of this year\u2019s theme and ASEAN\u2019s resilience and adaptability as a regional community.<\/p>\n

The celebration was further enriched by musical performances from disability and autism communities, reflecting ASEAN\u2019s people-centered values. An ASEAN Food Festival and a live video connection with ASEAN Day celebrations in Osaka, Japan, added to the sense of regional solidarity.<\/p>\n

For ASEANSAI, the commemoration provided a valuable opportunity to stay connected with the broader ASEAN community and align its ongoing work with ASEAN\u2019s long-term vision, particularly in supporting good governance and regional cooperation across Southeast Asia.<\/p>\n
