The State Audit Office of the Kingdom of Thailand and The State Audit Organization of Lao PDR work together to strengthen the capacities on financial audit of auditors in Lao with the support from Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA) and the German Government. The project Support to Financial Audit for the State Audit Organization of Lao PDR\u201d started from February 2017 to June 2018.<\/p>\n
The programme aimed to strengthening the following areas<\/p>\n
1)\u00a0the skills of trainers in SAI Lao to develop and deliver training courses on financial audit, using facilitation skills;<\/p>\n
2)\u00a0the skills of SAI Lao\u2019 junior financial auditors to conduct audits in accordance with the International Standards of Supreme Audit Institutions (ISSAI), and<\/p>\n
3)\u00a0the skills of the training institute staff in successfully planning and organizing trainings.<\/p>\n
To close the programme, a Final Project Steering Committee meeting was conducted at the SAI Lao\u2019 office in Vientiane, Lao on 5th\u00a0September 2018. The story about the partnership between SAI Lao and SAI Thailand on improving auditing skills through peer-to-peer learning in ASEANSAI has also been documented and published in a storybook.<\/p>\n
The book was developed with the consultation and contribution of the many experts, trainers, auditors and coordinators that were involved in the project, and was supported by the German project\u00a0Support to ASEANSAI, implemented by GIZ. It is hoped that this success story can highlight the benefits of SAI-to-SAI cooperation and regional knowledge sharing, under the regional organization of Supreme Audit Institutions in ASEAN (ASEANSAI), and potentially spark future trilateral cooperation processes.<\/p>\n
