{"id":1865,"date":"2013-04-30T10:49:27","date_gmt":"2013-04-30T03:49:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.aseansai.org\/?p=1865"},"modified":"2013-04-30T10:49:27","modified_gmt":"2013-04-30T03:49:27","slug":"philippine-sai-appointed-fao-external-auditor-anew","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.aseansai.org\/?p=1865","title":{"rendered":"Philippine SAI appointed FAO External Auditor anew"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>ROME, ITALY \u2013 The Philippine\u2019s Commission on Audit (COA) was appointed as External Auditor of the United Nation\u2019s Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) for another six-year term during the 148<sup>th<\/sup> session of the FAO Finance Committee last March 19, 2013.\u00a0 It was selected over other shortlisted candidates, Germany and United Kingdom.<\/p>\n<p>This is the second time that the Commission will serve as FAO External Auditor. \u00a0It was first elected last June 2007 at the FAO Council\u2019s 132<sup>nd<\/sup> session with a four-year term from 2008.\u00a0 In April 2011, its term was extended for the period 2012-2013 during the 141<sup>st<\/sup> session of the FAO Council.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur triumph in the Food and Agricultural Organization bid is a recognition of our distinct expertise in the field of international audit,\u201d said COA Chairperson Ma. Gracia M. Pulido Tan. \u00a0\u201cThis achievement is shared by all of us in the Commission. \u00a0I thank my colleagues in COA and all those who have extended their unwavering support in our campaign.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>To date, this is the Commission\u2019s third international recognition under the leadership of Chairperson Tan.\u00a0 In May 2011, it was elected as External Auditor of the World Health Organization during its 64<sup>th<\/sup> Assembly in Geneva, Switzerland.\u00a0 In March 2012, it was elected to a three-year term in the governing board of the Asian Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (ASOSAI) during its 12<sup>th<\/sup> Assembly in Jaipur, India.<\/p>\n<p>Accompanying Chairperson Tan during her oral presentation for the FAO bid were International Audit and Relations Office (IARO) Director Lito Q. Martin, Office of the Chairperson Director Ma. Milagros A.
