On 11 January 2019, the Head of the Secretariat of ASEAN Supreme Audit Institutions (ASEANSAI) and Secretary General of the Audit Board of the Republic Indonesia (BPK), Mr. Bahtiar Arif, hosted the first high-level three-party meeting at the BPK Office in Jakarta.

With this, future collaboration between ASEANSAI, AIPA and ASEAN was kicked-off. Together with Mr. Bahtiar Arif, Mr. Lee Yoong Yoong, Director of the ASEAN Community Affairs Directorate, and Hon. Mr. Isra Sunthornvut, Secretary General of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA) discussed the strategy and preparation for a first-time joint event which will pave the way for future mutual efforts in promoting Good Governance in ASEAN.

ASEANSAI, AIPA and ASEAN will host a joint seminar on 26th February 2019 in Jakarta, to enhance regional cooperation in areas of promoting transparency and accountability. Within this framework, the event will help to identify common interests and explore Good Governance from the different perspectives of ASEAN’s Governments, Parliaments, Supreme Audit Institutions and other ASEAN Associated Entities. One of the expected outputs of the activity, in which academia will also participate, is to establish a foundation for future inter-agency cooperation, through networking, exchange and interaction. The joint seminar is supported by the German Government through the “Support to ASEANSAI” and the “ASEC 2025” projects, implemented by GIZ.
