The Chairman of the Audit Board of Indonesia (BPK) RI, Hadi Purnomo, enacted as the first Chairman of ASEANSAI for period of 2011-2013. Enactment was conducted in the First Assembly of ASEANSAI which was attended by the Chairmans of Supreme Audit Institutions from ASEAN Member States. The First Assembly was held after the official establishment of ASEANSAI on 16 November 2011 at Bali International Convention Center, Westin Hotel, Nusa Dua, Bali.

In addition to the enactment of ASEANSAI Chairman, the First Assembly also enacted the Auditor General of Jabatan Audit Brunei Darussalam, Pengiran Haji Abd. Rahman bin Haji Mat Saleh as the Vice Chairman of ASEANSAI for period 2011-2013. Furthermore, the Assembly also enacted Secretary-General of BPK RI, Hendar Ristriawan, as the Head of ASEANSAI Secretariat. Before the event continued to the discussion, the Secretary-General of ASEAN, Dr. Surin Pitsuwan and The Chairman of ASOSAI, Mr. Muhammad Akhtar Buland Rana said that they support and appreciate the initiative from BPK in ASEANSAI establishment.

According to the Chairman of ASOSAI, ASEANSAI will create a useful forum for developing a system and audit practices. “I congratulate to all members of ASEAN at the initiative of establishing a forum to share experiences and as an effort to promote professionalism in the field of public sector audit,” he added.

In the first assembly it was agreed several things which were the establishment of four committees, namely strategic planning committee, rules and procedures committee, training committee, and exchange of knowledge committee. There was also held a discussion on the financial contribution, auditor for ASEANSAI, and other related things such as ASEANSAI Plan for 2012 activities as well as initiatives for ASEANSAI development for the long term.
